“The PC has already been replaced by the tablet.” Hey Fast Company. I admire your overall style and statements. In this case I’d have to say: “???????”. There might be lot’s of tablets in urban coffee spots. But what about these things: speed of typing, size of screen, precise data input, affordable hardware or processing speed. In other words any situation that’s different from casual surfing and checking holiday pics. You could say that the classic PC is now one of many important cloud connected devices. Like laptops, mobile phones, your fridge, professional hi-end workstations, tablets, cars, terminals, gaming consoles, TVs, servers, wearables or super computers. In other words: a tablet would have given Hemingway a death from typewriter’s cramp. Or saved his live because he could not pull the trigger any more? You made me think… But still. I want buttons back. I want keys back. I want product design with mechanical and tangible parts.

Check out a brief history of technology that somehow lead to iPads or other tablet devices. Beginning with the 1888’s Teleautograph. In the image above you see one of the first tablet computers – the Gridpad. With a stylus pen interface instead of a keyboard.
